CAT? Diesel Generator Set Wins 2017 Data Center Science and Technology Award

As a member of the Cat?3500 series family, Cat?3516C diesel generator set lived up to its expectations and won the 2017 Data Center Science and Technology Award-Science and Technology Progress Award (Product Research and Development).

Cat?3500 series generator sets can provide reliable power from 1000kVA to 3500kVA. Cat?3500 series generator sets have excellent transient response performance, meet ISO 8528-5 transient response standards, and can be loaded to 100 percent of rated power in one step. It also meets the loading requirements of NFPA 110 (emergency and backup power system standards developed by the National Fire Protection Association) and has the seismic certification of the International Building Code (International Building Code, referred to as IBC).
As the main component, the Cat? engine is committed to clean environmental protection and low fuel consumption. The Cat? generator is designed to match the performance and output characteristics of the Cat? engine to provide greater motor starting capability and higher efficiency, ensuring that the generator can output 100 percent of rated power. At the same time, its EMCP4 controller interface and navigation are more convenient to use. Scalable system meets most customer needs. The award-winning Cat?3516C diesel generator set was used in a data center in Dongguan, Guangdong. The data center belongs to a world-renowned enterprise that provides information and communication solutions. It has 12 server room modules and 3000 cabinets. In order to achieve the goal of low cost, low energy consumption and flexible scalability in the data center, the customer purchased 20 Cat?3516C diesel generator sets with a continuous power of 1800 kW/10.5kV from Cat dealers to power them. The customer's requirements for the product are very strict. During the acceptance, a 3x 24H full load test (24 hours for a single machine and 24 hours for two parallel machines) was carried out. The UPS capacity equivalent to 2 times the power of the unit was assumed in the load, and all of them were operating normally. With the advantages of high reliability, energy saving, environmental protection and economy, Cat?3516C products have been well received by customers and have been awarded honorary certificates by customers for many times.
