High-altitude cosmic ray observation station mobile diesel generator set through acceptance

On May 21, the 400KW mobile diesel generator set of the High Altitude Cosmic Ray Observatory (LHAASO) observation base passed the acceptance test. Prior to this, the general system engineer of the LHAASO project of the general operation department of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with the diesel generator set manufacturer, made a lot of acceptance preparations to transport the diesel generator set and mobile trailer from Wuhan City, Hubei Province to the LHAASO project observation base in Haizishan, Daocheng County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province.

During the transportation, engineers and technicians overcame altitude sickness and guided the transportation, hoisting, debugging and acceptance of equipment at the project observation base at an altitude of about 4500 meters, and finally provided mobile power for the project base smoothly.

After debugging and testing, the brushless permanent excitation mobile diesel generator set can output high-quality power supply on Haizi Mountain in a relatively harsh environment. The output voltage is AC230V/400V, the steady-state voltage deviation is only 0.4, the voltage imbalance is 0.1, and the fuel consumption rate per unit power of the engine at full load is as low as 198g/kW.h. The unit can also realize comprehensive self-protection function. Its over-protection curve is as close to the generator thermal damage curve as possible, giving full play to the generator's over-current capability, providing adjustment flexibility to the lower-level equipment to the greatest extent, isolating faults to realize optimal adjustment, over-current, over-voltage/under-voltage, low frequency and overload protection.

The mobile diesel generator set is used to provide temporary power supply for MD detectors and containerized ultrapure water preparation system before delivery of power distribution stations. Its smooth acceptance and delivery provide guarantee for the operation of 1/4 detector array in November 2018.
